Details of Course:

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme at IISER Kolkata is an introduction to cutting edge research. In both theoretical as well as experimental subject IISER Kolkata strives to provide world class training. The institute offers Doctorate degree in the fields of Biological Science, Chemical Science, Mathematics, Physical Science & Earth Science. Individual Department select deserving candidates from the pool of applicants based on their academic backgrounds, research interest and their performance in the selection test (often an Interview). The selection is conducted twice a year (advertisement goes public tentatively in the months of march and September). The applicants who has their own fellowship (such as UGC / CSIR NET, INSPIRE etc) may apply at any time of the year. The Institute reserves the provision of offering rolling admission to these candidates. The candidates who do not have their own fellowship must apply through the bi annual selection process.

Eligibility Criteria :

Maters Degree in respective discipline or equivalent from recognized University.

Research Areas:

Biological Science, Chemical Science, Geological Science, Mathematics, Statistic & Physical Science.

Selection Procedure:

List of shortlisted candidates (based on merit, subject specialization and required research are) for Interview will be published in the IISER Kolkata Website.

The Institute will not provide any TA / DA or accommodation for attending the Interview.

The selected candidates will receive the offer letter containing also the last date for joining shortly after the Interview.

Selected candidates for Test / Interview should bring a hard copy of application along with the required documents listed below at the time of Test / Interview.

Attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations starting from High school leaving certificate, Two letters of recommendation (in sealed envelops), photo identity and proof of age.
