Staff Selection Commission (SSC):
The estimates Committee of the Parliament, in its 47th Report (1967-68), recommended the setting up of a Service Selection Commission for conducting examinations for recruitment to lower categories of posts. Pursuant to this, and as an interim measure, an Examination wing was initially added to the Secretariat Training School, subsequently renamed as the Institute of Secretariat and Management (ISTM).
The Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC), in its Report on Personnel Administration, drew attention to the fact that bulk of the staff of the Government at the Centre and in the States belonged to Class III and Class IV categories. Referring in particular to the identical nature of qualification stipulated for entry into such posts in various offices, the Commission advocated polling of the requirements of non technical posts by different Departments and selection of personnel either by joint recruitment or through board. It was in pursuance of this recommendation that the Government of India decided to constitute a subordinate Service Commission under Executive Resolution.
The Government of India, in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms vide its Regulation No. 46/1(S)/74-Estt. (B), 1975 constitute a commission called the Subordinate Service Commission which has subsequently been re-designed as Staff Selection Commission Effective from the 26th September 1977 to make recruitment to a various Class III (Group C) Non Technical Posts in the various Ministries / Departments of the Govt. of India and in Subordinate Officers. The functions of the Staff Selection Commission have been enlarged from time to time and now it carries out the recruitment also to all Group B Posts in the pay scale of Rs.9300 to 34800 with a grade pay of Rs.4200 the function of the Staff Selection Commission were redefined by the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions vide its Resolution . The new constitution and function of the Staff Selection Commission came into effective in from 1st June 1999.
Brief Description about SSC One Time Registration (OTR):
The commission has devised a simplified format for the online application procedure . In this process, candidates may Register once and may apply for any Examination conducted by SSC. One time Registration is the permanent database for candidates. The Registration ID and Password provided by the system should be kept safely so that it can be used for any examination conducted by SSC. The Registration facility is available to the candidates may log into the system and can proceed for application filling. Then Registered Candidates can Apply Online For Recruitment Examination . However candidates who wish to make the payment through Online or Challan of SBI, may make the payment to designated branches of SBI within the working hours.
Details of Process for Apply:
SSC One Time Registration & Application Filling Procedure (Application Part). One time Registration will be a permanent database for candidate. The Unique Registration D and Password can be used by the candidates for all the examination conducted by SSC. This facility would be available to the candidates to register themselves with SSC.
SSC OTR Registration Process:
Applicant required to visit on sss.nic.in, Click on Apply Tab then select Apply Link 1 or Directly Visit on www.ssconline.nic.in
On Clicking on Registration button.
Fill up Registration Form (With Name, Father name, Date of Birth etc.).
Select Enter to proceed further Or click on the Close button, to abort the registration process.
Enter Personal Details, Basic Details and Contact Details as appeared (Candidates should fill all the input boxes carefully. Once the candidates has filled all the relevant fields which he / she are required to fill the above three boxes correctly, he / she can click on Submit Button. On clicking the Submit button, the Data / Details entered so far will be saved in Commission's Server . If the candidates clicks close button, the data / Details will not be saved and the candidates will be be able to exit from the registration window / process).
Enter all required fields & then click Submit button.
Get the provisional Registration ID and Password & upload your Photograph and Signature.
Applicant can also upload Photograph and Signature at convenience at later date / tme by login again using Log in ID & Password clicking View / Edit option as shown below (Photograph Size should be between 4 kb to 12 kb with resolution of 100 pixel width and 120 pixel height / Signature size should be between 1 kb to 12 kb with resolution of 40 pixel width by 60 pixel height).
SSC Application Filling Process:
Registered candidates may log into the system and can proceeds for application filling. The following figure depicts the complete application form.
The application Form completely filled up all relevant details.
The remaining fields which have not been filled in automatically have to filled in by the candidates. The candidates are advised to fill in the details very carefully.
Once the candidates has filled in all the required details in the application form, he / she will find there are three buttons at the bottom namely Partial Save / Final Submit / Clsoe. if the candidates uses the close button, he / she will exit from the application form. No data / details will be saved. If the candidates does not want to fill in the entire application form in one attempt, he can fill in partial application and by using partial save, he / she can save all the data / details filled in by him. The remaining details may be filled in by him later whenever it is convenient to him.
Once the application form is completely filled in, the candidates should use the Final Submit button which will save all the data / details filled in by him and payment window will appear.
Here the candidates are getting another opportunity to check fee exemption option, if the candidates is entitled for fee exemption, as per provisions of the Notice for their examination, they may exercise fee exemption claim. Candidates who are not eligible for fee exemption claims, should clik on No button and proceed further to make payment by Clicking Online or Offline in fee payment mode option. Once it is done, click on Submit button.
If the candidates selects offline option then candidates gets a fee deposit bank Challan Form from the server. After getting the Challan Form candidate should go to the nearest State Bank of India Branches and deposit the Fee. After this Candidates's formality complete. Bank will generate MIS report and send it to commission. This process takes minimum 48 hours. After 48 Hours the candidates may check their application status form by clicking on Check your Application status here option on the default page.
In the case of Online payment candidate will be redirected to Bank site with various payment option as Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking. During payment, due to network problem if candidate face any problem he / she has to wait for 48 hours for the settlement of payment.
After completion of payment procedure, candidates may take a print out of their Filled Application Form by Logging in Apply / Print option on the default page.
